  • receive guidance and assistance from highly evolved energies and Source / The Light
  • heal old wounds, release lower energies, and update erroneous teachings

As enough people do this, widespread personal and planetary change will naturally unfold.

Optimal Lifework

This is what I call a 15% topic.  That number is an estimate of how many people on earth currently have intermediate to advanced levels of energy / spiritual awakening.  This topic will become more important and relevant as larger numbers of people, learn without a doubt, that life continues after bodily death.

How I learned that we each are here for special purposes:

from family and friends
1. I was often asked by older family members, church members, and neighbors: ‘Mark, what do you want to be when you grow up?’ That caused a certain amount of reflection. By high school, I had it narrowed down to a physician, counselor, and pastor.  I ended up getting training in all three areas.

2. My parents taught, ‘To whom much is given, much is expected.’ It was clear that I was fairly bright, verbal, and in good physical condition. How would I use and share those gifts?

from religious / spiritual training
1. The minister’s Benediction ‘May the peace that passes all understanding be in your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus’ sounded, even at a young age, as something I definitely wanted.

2. Encouragement to ‘let your light shine, don’t hide it under a bushel’ also caught my attention. Combined with ‘love your neighbor as yourself’, it was becoming clearer that helping others was a really good thing to do.

3. At age twelve, I sat by myself eating a bowl of cereal and reading the newspaper. On the front page was the story of a prominent local man who had just passed on. As I looked up in reverie, sunlight refracted through our beveled kitchen windows and multicolored lights shined into my eyes.  A calm loving voice / thought said, “You, too, will die someday, Mark.  What will you do with your life in the meantime?  Will you leave this world a better place or will you just take up space?”  The question wasn’t judgmental or threatening.  Rather, it seemed designed to make me think about fulfilling my missions.

from books
1. While reading Critical Path by Buckminster Fuller, I learned that he had a revelatory moment at age 32. Broke, unemployed, and seemingly hopelessly unsuccessful, Bucky considered jumping off a cliff for the life insurance benefits for his family. However, a deep inner thought / voice convinced him to use his unique knowledge and experience to benefit others.  His success as an inventor, mathematician, author, and philosopher spoke volumes about the wisdom of that approach.

b. In his wonderful book with Michael Toms, An Open Life, Joseph Campbell shared his ‘follow your bliss’ philosophy.  Here is the full quote: “If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life you ought to be living is the one you are living.”

from music

  1. In the Beatles’ song The End, they famously state: “And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make.”These lyrics agreed with the Higher Thought idea that we receive all we give to others and more.
  2. Stevie Wonder’s song Higher Ground on his Innervisions album encouraged people to do whatever they are doing to the very best of their ability: ‘Teachers keep on teaching, preachers keep on preaching, world keep on turning til I reach my highest ground.’
  3. The delightfully energizing and inspiring band Earth, Wind, and Fire reminded us: ‘You’re a shining star, no matter who you are, shining bright to see, what you could truly be.’

The words to these songs and others become like a mantra that played over and over in my head.  Together, they added to my growing belief and feeling that serving others was a high level path.

while helping others

  1. During my six years working part-time in hospitals, I noticed that helping others made me feel better. Like most of us, I went through predictable relationship break-ups, not knowing what I should do, financial concerns, and more. However, those troubles were forgotten during those golden moments when I lovingly helped others who were suffering and dying.
  2. While working in pastoral counseling settings and mental health centers, I realized that one cause of depression was creative discontent.Put another way, some people suffered with an existential malaise because they weren’t in the flow of life and making life better in some way.from Eastern and Native spirituality sources1. Studies of Hinduism and Buddhism introduced me to the term ‘dharma’ that can be interpreted as a right way of living.2. Native American spirituality teachers shared that Great Spirit endowed everyone with a ‘give away’. Part of each person’s daily walk with Creator was to share these gifts.3. At some point, I incorporated the following into my daily prayers and affirmations: Thank you for helping me let my light shine fully, to share my greatest gifts, to do all that I came here to do, and sing all my heart songs

from my searches for afterlife evidence
    1. Near death experiencers reported that life reviews were a transformative part of their time of being embraced by the Light.

    2. Reading books by Aramaic scholars George Lamsa, Rocco Errico, and Neil Douglas-Klotz helped me upgrade my understanding of what ‘heaven and hell’ were. (To learn more, see article #14)

  3. I created audio programs including Ask Your Soul (article #71), Past Life Regressions (#102), and Pre-Birth Planning (#25). Each of these allowed me to escape the illusion that my five sense detected all that is. They allowed me alter my consciousness naturally and access clues to what my highest missions in this time and place are.

Sharing What I’ve Learned
1. A great way to learn is to teach.  I created the ‘Identify and Fulfill Your Purposes AND Create Your Greatest Life’ audio program so people can address this important topic from a more aware state of mind.

2. In addition, I wrote many free articles that can be read at SoulProof.com including:

a. #21 Identify and Fulfill Your Highest Purposes

b.  #65 Karma

c. #70 Holistic Breathing Technique

d. #71 Ask Your Soul Technique

e. #72 Greater Reality Living

Keys lessons I’ve learned personally and while working with many people about this topic:

  1. Begin to follow your callings, even just part time if you have to work at a paying day job.Your inner self will be less frustrated and more empowered after you start.
  2. It’s not so much how you serve as it is the service itself. For example, some bartenders and barbers provide invaluable counsel to their clients.
  3. As a wise Middle Eastern idiom instructs: ‘Trust Allah but tie up your camel.’  Follow your bliss but also be smart about being able to pay bills.
  4. Identifying and fulfilling your missions is a process that may change over time. For example, after achieving each of my degrees and practicing that craft full time for a while, I felt: ‘No, that’s not it.’  However, the combination of working in hospitals, mental health centers, holistic health care center, writing books, lecturing, etc. prepared me to educate people about the reality of afterlife, how to internalize that great news, and all the benefits therein.
  5. Your apparent failures may actually be training for other time / space scenarios. You take with you what you have mastered into the next phase of life.  So don’t prejudge about the success of your outreaches.
  6. Don’t think your missions have to be world changing. The Aborigines said it was a great life if you helped one other person.
  7. Serving others is a great way to heal and transform yourself.

A formula for finding your optimal lifework:

  1. Daily pray / intend that it occurs in right time and way.
  2. Write out your dream career and don’t hold back.
  3. Share your vision with supportive family and friends.
  4. Stay alert to what pops up
  5. Change your schooling and/or job as your heart and mind instruct.
  6. To become, act as if.
  7. Even if you’re not doing your ideal job, give 110% to whatever you do
  8. Give thanks for your ideal lifework that is coming to you.
