Over the last 15 years, and especially during 2019 – 2024, data from a series of experiments at the University of Arizona have definitively demonstrated scientifically that life continues after physical death. This research was conducted by Gary E. Schwartz PhD, former professor at Harvard and Yale, and pioneer in the fields of behavioral medicine and energy healing.
Dr. Schwartz is assisted in this work by a team of electrical engineers, software developers, research assistants, evidential mediums, and postmaterial luminaries at the Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health. The Demo SoulSwitch is a binary (Yes / No) SoulSwitch device that postmaterial persons (the so-called ‘deceased’) can use to answer questions, verify their identity, and begin providing information to help many people and our planet. This device should be ready for beta testing by the summer of 2024. After sessions with project volunteers and larger donors, we will share data that scientifically demonstrates life continues after bodily death. However, this ‘reveal’ will initially occur as an ‘incremental trickle’ versus a ‘sudden splash’. Over time and under optimal conditions, we will gradually amplify how widely this news is shared.
Likewise, demonstrations of this technology will occur in a stepwise fashion. We anticipate, but cannot guarantee, that full announcements and demonstrations will occur by spring 2025. These decisions were made in April 2024 after many strategic planning discussions with core project team members. The many factors involved are much more complex than you might imagine.

- continue to live after your earthly body dies.
- can interact with ‘departed’ loved ones now and after you pass on.
- are integral, infinite, eternal, and beloved parts of Source Energy now and always.
- receive guidance and support from angels, guides, master teachers, etc.
- are sacredly interconnected with all people, animals, and nature.
- have special purposes for having this earthly experience now.
- may manifest in other simultaneous time / space realities now and after bodily death.
- have everything you need to enjoy an optimal earthly experience – no matter what your past or current circumstances.
- can find meaning, as well as opportunities for growth and service, amidst your toughest changes and challenges.
- co-create how heavenly your life feels – whether living on earth or elsewhere – by your predominant thoughts, words and actions.
- can likely use SoulPhone technology in the future to communicate with postmaterial loved ones and access wisdom from luminaries who can help us heal our world.
Statements #1, 2, and 11 are based on definitive scientific research. The other statements are based on: (a) clinical research: near-death experiences, past life memories and regressions, perinatal experiences, life between lives sessions, shared crossings, terminal lucidity cases, and deathbed visions; and (b) evidencefrom firsthand experiences: after-death communications, out-of-body experiences, spiritually transformative experiences, electronic voice projection / instrumental transcommunication, and other ways of knowing.
This is, obviously, a new and exciting era for humanity. When understood and internalized – even just a bit – The Great News can help you make the shift:
- FROM thinking, believing, and acting as if your time on earth is unfair, meaningless, cruel, and ends with cessation of consciousness or the possibility of endless suffering.
- TO thinking, believing, and acting as if this earthly experience is a totally meaningful, safe, and magnificent adventure amidst forever.
Conscious language can help you adopt a greater reality perspective and live based on the second bulleted worldview. And that, in turn, can help you create the greatest life YOU have envisioned, fulfill your purposes for being on earth, serve others, and enjoy a magnificent journey. In the pursuit of using more conscious / accurate terms, l:
- Will use the term ‘YOU’ to describe the totality of your energy / being. Your real self may manifest in different spacetime ways simultaneously since only approximately 50% of your consciousness is needed to have an earthly experience. The term ‘YOU’ recognizes both of these possibilities.
- Won’t use the terms ‘die, departed, deceased, or dead’ without single quotation marks since those have strongly entrenched and erroneous meanings indicating an end of life.
- Will use the terms ‘bodily death’ and ‘death of the earthly form’ to remind you that only the earth-suit dies. The rest – all the intelligence, love, personality, memories, preferences, sense of humor, and much more – continues living in other parts of the field of all possibilities.
- Will use the terms changed worlds, passed on, transitioned and others that aptly describe a continuation of consciousness after bodily death.
- Will primarily refer to those who have passed on as postmaterial persons. That term recognizes the points in #3. I also will use soul, consciousness, essence, and awareness.
- Will primarily refer to ‘physical humans living on earth’ as material persons. Why? Because those terms within single quotation marks may apply to postmaterial persons. That is, they can have physicality, visit earth, and are still human in meaningful ways.
- Will use the terms lower versus higher energies, emotions, and ways of being. These descriptors are not critical, judgmental, or subjective; rather, they are based on objective measures by, for example, David Hawkins PhD, MD author of Power Versus Force. He and other researchers found that higher-energy emotions of peace, joy, and love calibrate at 600, 540, and 500 respectively. Conversely, lower-energy emotions of anger, fear, and guilt calibrate at 150, 100, and 30. To be clear, energy / consciousness is who and what you really are, not just how you are feeling. Your predominant energies create the quality of your life and the nature of your earthly or other time-space experience.
- Will use single quotations marks with words such as ‘lose and fail’. The Great News and collective afterlife evidence can expand your worldview about what seem to be losses and failures. We can’t accurately judge the big picture of life – what is lost or how we failed – with our limited human senses.
Note: To recognize and respect different genders and sexual identifications, I will alternate using ‘he’ or ‘she’ and related pronouns. Depending on a person’s orientation, one, both, or neither of those may apply.

Angels and Higher Energy Assistance
Good evidence – scientific, clinical, and experiential in nature – exists that indicates we can receive assistance and guidance from higher energy assistants / assistance.
That’s incredibly great, comforting, and inspiring news. As usual, I don’t make this claim lightly.
As always, it’s good to define my terms before proceeding. Higher Energy Assistants / Assistance describes are more evolved nonearthly beings / energies. From a more religious or spiritual viewpoint, these higher beings are seen as assistants: saints, angels, guides, and master teachers.
Those terms have well established meanings and images that may not be accurate. For example, many people believe that angels are large beings with wings, but is that necessarily true? I prefer the original meaning of angels: messengers and sources of guidance that may take different forms or no perceivable form at all.
From a more secular or scientific perspective, this help is considered as higher energy assistance. This term may help those who aren’t comfortable with traditional religious images.
However you envision this help, there is good evidence that higher, faster, and more refined energies provide support and guidance – especially when invited to do so.
Many people have perceived such guidance and help. Clinical evidence has been reported by researchers in the fields of near-death experiences, life between lives sessions, and past life regression. Sessions with authentic mediums, whose abilities to accurately discern specific communications from ‘deceased’ persons in double blind studies – commonly report angelic assistance.
In the category of experiential evidence, many people have reported revelatory experiences and synchronistic signs from sources described as angels and higher energies. (To learn more synchronicities, see the book Super Synchronicities by Gary E. Schwartz PhD)
There actually has been some initial scientific exploration about the energy of angels. Dr. Schwartz and his team included an angel in at least two sets of experiments. He also has also received evidence for their presence via double-blinded interactions with mediums. Volume 2 of our book Greater Reality Living will address higher energy assistance / assistants and related topics.
However, detecting their presence and establishing communication will be a quite different project versus working with postmaterial persons. Using current technology, the detectable presence of persons who recently lived on earth is quite small. As such, research aims to decrease background noise and amplify their signals with very sensitive equipment. The energy of evolved helpers will likely be much greater and require sensors that can handle a greater speed and amplitude of current.
Numerous authors, poets, artists and visionaries have reported angelic visits. Many books and documentaries describe angel experiences by people from all walks of life. Of particular significance is the sheer number of such encounters, especially those that are confirmatory in nature. That is, there is some evidence associated with the report that lends additional confirmatory weight.
One story involving young Marilyn MacDonald was told by Sophy Burnham in A Book of Angels. After being dropped off at school by her parents, “Marilyn had darted in front of a car and been hit and tossed high in the air. Her parents watched helplessly as she hit the pavement and rolled over and over toward a large, uncovered, open sewer. But instead of falling in, as expected, she suddenly stopped, right at the lip of the sewer.”
Burnham continues, “The parents told this story to the doctor, and they all shook their heads in amazement. How could the child have stopped so suddenly, at the very edge of the sewer, when she had been rolling so fast? In a voice filled with surprise, Marilyn spoke up from the sofa and said, ‘But didn’t you see that huge, beautiful angel standing in the sewer, holding up her hands to keep me from rolling in?’”
My dad experienced what he considered to be angelic visits after his heart by-pass surgery in 2001. On several occasions, he became very cold, but was so sore and tired that pulling up the blankets was difficult. He asked God to help him and saw lights moving around as if ministering to him. One time, he felt as if they shook heat onto him as if from a salt shaker. He immediately felt warmed to the bone by a source he described as being warmer than gas, wood, or coal heat. On another occasion, he actually felt the covers pulled up around him and tucked in around his body.
Such interventions are described in scriptures of all religions. The Jewish Kabbalah says there are 49 million angels. The Koran speaks of angels wafting down by the grace of their Lord. In the Bible, Psalms 91 states, “He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” Or, apparently, a storm sewer.
Angels, says Burnham, have been part of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, and Zoroastrianism. Ancient Assyrian, Mesopotamian, Viking, and Greek cultures recognized angels as have, in some form or another, all cultures throughout the world. Dante, Milton, Goethe, Swedenborg, and Steiner had angel visions. More recently, such varying personages as George Washington, Carl Jung and Johnny Cash have reported seeing angels.
Sir William Barrett, professor of Physics at the Royal College of Science in Dublin published the book Deathbed Visions. He reported that dying children quite often expressed surprise that the ‘angels’ they saw did not have wings. If their perception of angels was just wishful thinking, wouldn’t they see angels as most often depicted in religion, art and literature . . . large and with white wings?”
Many creative people have expressed their glimpses of the Divine in various forms. Emanuel Swedenborg’s writings and William Blake’s engravings are two examples of capturing visions in art form. Contemporary angel artist Andy Lakey was inspired to paint after his conversion from being a drug addict. His paintings have assisted thousands of people to have healings and revelations.
One painting from the 15th century depicted a scene commonly described in modern day near-death experiences—a darkened tunnel with bright light at the end and angels hovering about. Beautiful renditions of angels and light beings have been created by artists such as Gustave Dore, Matthias Grunewald, Botticelli, Blake, Pieta, Rembrandt, and da Vinci. Sculptors have memorialized angels in their work.
I believe that I experienced the grace and beauty of an angel’s visit as I was completing my first book. While writing early one morning, I was looking for an obscure Biblical quote and couldn’t find any Concordance references. I suddenly felt ecstatic for no apparent reason and heard a slight rustling. Through my peripheral vision, I saw a white gauzy form like the fine lace-work of a wedding dress. But as I turned to see it more clearly, it was gone. I felt energized and interpreted this as a sign that my work was in flow with Divine will and my soul’s missions.
Immediately afterwards, I opened the Bible to the exact page I needed and my eyes went directly to the verses I sought . . . Hebrews 2:6-7 that states, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? . . . Thou madest him a little lower than the angels. . .”
For many, firsthand experiences constitute the most incontrovertible proof of their eternal soul natures. Atheists, scientific materialists, and close-minded skeptics can’t dissuade those who have glimpsed angelic / higher assistance. As Emanuel Swedenborg said, “Do not believe me simply because I have seen heaven and hell, have discoursed with angels. Believe me because I tell you what your consciousness and intuitions will tell you if you listen closely to their voice.”
More people are using subtle discernment to detect the breadth of reality – including higher energy assistance – that is often not sensed. Terms that describe other ways of perceiving the greater reality include: having a gut feeling, hearing an inner voice, having a deep knowing, hearing telepathically, and seeing with the mind’s eye. Jesus is quoted as speaking of ‘hearing with ears that really hear and seeing with eyes that really see’. The nonsensate world—that vast portion of reality that usually cannot be detected by the five senses —can sometimes be experienced via these more sensitive ways.
Some people understandably don’t believe in angelic assistance because the obvious question inevitably arises, `If angels assist some people, why don’t they help everyone in distress?’ This is the very question that started forming in my mind immediately after my encounter described above. However, before I could even complete the thought, the following answers were downloaded instantaneously:
- Angels do not impose their will on others. If people make decisions to die or hurt themselves, that’s their choice in a free will universe.
- We will receive more assistance when we ask for it.
- Realize that help may not arrive how, when, and where we expect it.
- We will never know how often we are helped. Assistance may be subtle, preventive and undetectable.
- Souls may have chosen significant challenges to assist spiritual growth; higher energy assistants / assistance wouldn’t interfere with this plan.
- Earth is designed to be a place of learning. Much of the earthly curriculum would be omitted If more evolved beings / higher energies prevented all suffering.
The question of why we don’t receive more assistance is most heartbreaking when a loved one’s body dies by suicide and murder. I can’t address these ultra important topics in this article but for more information, see articles #4, 25, 27, and 29 at SoulProof.com.
The suicide rate is so high these days and is currently the #1 cause of death among teenage girls. (To learn more about addressing the underlying causes of this, see article #5) Family and friends of the person who passed on by suicide are so devastated. I hope the following information helps.
Highly evidential mediums such as James Van Praagh, Rosemary Altea, and George Anderson agree that those who end their earthly experience do not stay in a dark place. Just like the prodigal son story in the Bible, Creator is always ready to welcome souls Home whenever they are ready for that.
Those who extinguish their physical bodies are reported to recover in special settings with much nurturing and unconditional love. Souls may be in a very peaceful and safe realm inhabited only by puppies, kittens, and fawns. Recovering beings are watched over, assisted, and guided by angels and guides.
One example of clinical evidence that supports this view is the work of Michael Newton, Ph.D., as described in Journey of Souls. While assisting tens of thousands of subjects in recalling their time between lives on earth, he and other therapists have found there is no punishment from an external source for suicide. Their clients report that judgment and punishment are earthly actions that don’t exist in more enlightened dimensions.
Dr. Newton described souls who end their earthly experience as often feeling disappointed at their poor judgment because they didn’t choose better options. However, he reported that those who escaped from severe chronic pain or incapacity felt no remorse for suicide. Their soulmates, angels, and other higher energy assistants also had more accepting views in these cases.
If you can conceive that higher energy assistance / assistants may exist, the next questions are: How do you ask for help? Who do you ask? How can you become more aware of assistance? How do you use it?
- How do you ask for help? Just make the request and expect to receive assistance with what you need in, all things considered, the right way and time.
- Who do you ask? Some people prefer getting assistance directly from G.O.D./the Light. Others are more comfortable with an intermediary such as saints, angels, guides, or master teachers. Still others believe that looking within is best. Since all life is one and interconnected, the distinctions between you and higher energy assistants may not be as great as you think. Why not cast as wide a net as possible and ask for help from all of the above?
- How can you become more aware of assistance? Use prayer, meditation, time in nature, and other centering practices to quiet your brain so you can hear wise responses from within and all around. Sometimes perceiving assistance can be as simple as asking and staying alert. Know that the answers may not appear when and how you expect.
- How do you use it? Upgrade your life, serve others, and make the world a better place. According to David R. Hawkins M.D., Ph.D., author of Power Versus Force, gratitude is one of the highest energy emotions. Expressing thanks after receiving help and guidance can strengthen the connection between you, evolved helpers, and the Light.
Again, much evidence indicates that we each receive more love, assistance, and guidance than we can imagine. May this information comfort and strengthen you during your brief and potentially wonderful earthly experience.
Addendum: I wanted to share a personal experience that deepened my knowing that we each are always loved, guided, and assisted by higher energy beings. On 11/11/23, I did a shamanic journey using a favorite audio program to do that. (The Shaman’s Heart with Hemi-Sync by Byron Metcalf and Steve Roach) I set an intention to deeply communicate with my spiritual support team: angels, guides, master teachers, soul mates, higher self, and – always and everywhere – The Light. In my deep hypnogogic state, that state between sleep and wakefulness, I sensed my team hovering around me.
Someone psychically / energetically cut out pieces of my left temporal (skull) bone. The pieces were arranged in front of me so I could read what they spelled: Act As a Team! (Later, I considered the hilarious possibility that my team had to attract my attention this way because I am such a bonehead!)
This simple but very profound message brought tears to my eyes and other signs of chakra activation. It was a deeper level of remembering that I always have my beloved team around me. They are beyond glad to assist in every major and minor need; given that, why wouldn’t I use their very real presence in every moment? I wrote the phrase ‘Act as a Team’ on paper where I see it every day.
